    LUISA’S DRIED FIGS

    figs

Figs are so high in Iron and Energy – and they are delicious. A great snack when you need a pick me up.

    Ingredients:    Fresh figs

    Hot sun

    Daphne leaves

    Sugar (optional)

    Raki (optional)

    Method:

Cut the figs with a sharp knife in the middle (not all the way through) and push down with the side of the knife.

Place on screens (i use old window shades) & dry in the sun for a day or two.

Boil a pot of water with a few Daphne leaves.

Place the figs for a minute or so – this will sterlize and kill off any bugs.

Place in the sun again for a day – cover with a light fly net.

Heat the oven to 180C then turn off.

Place the figs on trays and place in the oven for about 5 minutes.

Sprinkle some raki (can use another alcoholic spirit such as brandy – this helps preserve them and gives some moisture) and some sugar.

Place in an airtight container……..and enjoy.
